Before I share some of the cool names that I found on the internet you might find interesting: a personal story (How I got my name).
My mom went through every baby book she could find, sought advice, and nothing stuck.
It was a snowy day in March, and my mom was still unsure of what she wanted my name to be. She checked out the back of her pants, the label said: Jennifer Moore. (Moore was my maiden name.)
It was in that moment she knew, I was going to be a Jennifer. And I guess it stuck.
Sometimes, names might be that easy to find. Others, can be quite challenging. I hope this compilation gives you some ideas!
1. Koda Health
Koda Health is a health tech company, focused on providing digital advance care planning services with a human touch. See how they came up with their name in a crunch.
Next time you feel like you're in a rush to come up with a name, take a caesura (a pause in sheet music) to breathe. You'll find it.
2. Halaxy
Halaxy is a practice management platform that helps providers to "navigate the galaxy of healthcare." Read Co-Founder and Co-CEO Alison's post about how they rebranded to Halaxy six years ago and never looked back.
As a language nerd at heart, I love a good portmanteau, especially in brand names. And with this brand system and galaxy, there's so much room to grow and flex from a design perspective. You can see how they've fully embraced the brand identity across channels, especially on their website.
3. Confido Health
When in doubt, go Latin. Confido Health's team found inspiration from the Latin language and found a word that adequately captured what was missing from healthcare: trust.
Maybe this inspires your next tattoo. Or, maybe your company's name. The choice is yours. But, tell me, what Latin word would you like to see a health tech company use for their name? There's a lot of material there.
A few healthcare brand names that draw inspiration from Latin:
- Novartis (novae artes; new skills)
- Eversana (sana; healthy)
- Vitalis Health (vita; life)
4. Inspiren
I don't usually pick favorites, but this one's definitely up there. I'm half Asian (Chinese and Vietnamese), so when I hear about companies incorporating culture into their brand strategy, I am all ears.
Check out their naming story from CEO, Michael Wang.
If you can incorporate your culture into your brand strategy, do it! Some companies that have done this well also include Clever Care Health Plan, Tia Health, and Zócalo Health.
I hope this post brings you some inspiration for your brand naming project! If you need any help along the way, feel free to reach out!
